It’s no easy task to condense a band history of 30 years and 13 albums into a best-of. Stuart Staples and his Tindersticks choose the chronological path. Starting with “City Sickness” from their self-titled debut album, they strive to combine the known with the unknown.

Old friends like the gently melting “Travelling Light” with Carla Torgerson from the Walkabouts or “Pinky In The Daylight”, the crooked waltz from the late major work NO TREASURE BUT HOPE, hug you tenderly, while variations on well-known pieces or completely new ones are shown elsewhere Rooms are opened (“Both Sides Of The Blade”). Completeness is not possible with 20 tracks, which is why the compilation should be seen as an invitation to keep listening.
