With a name like Pogendroblem, that doesn’t stop there, but it doesn’t go far enough, which is particularly the case with the song “Wie täubst du dich?”. Hedonism and intoxication are not discarded here, but it won’t be a drinking song in a hundred years, the piece opens up a larger context and, despite all the punk-like conciseness in text and form, lands on the question of how numb life in the modern age doesn’t have to be inherent .

That shouldn’t turn the album EVERYTHING I STILL HAVE ARE MY COMPETENCES into a sociology seminar, but rather symbolize the depth of reflection that Pogendroblem has ahead of other current punk bands. Fortunately, this plus does not have a negative effect on the music. It still sounds raw, accessible, immediate. Otherwise, a lot has happened since the last record, which was several years ago, Pogendroblem, for example, now have a female drummer.
Also, vocally they don’t offer so many Turbostaat references anymore, on the other hand, one often feels reminded of the Golden Lemons or the Dead Kennedys. Probably also because all 15 pieces are pervaded by a constantly nervous urgency. Add desperation, power and wit – the result is one of the most important and exciting punk records of the year.
