About love and other relationships: The singer/songwriter steps out of the shadows again.
Madi Diaz is definitely not a newcomer: the Peruvian-Danish American has already released nine albums and EPs, and WEIRD FAITH is her tenth release. But she is one of those musicians who is celebrated primarily by other colleagues – even if, despite the praised previous album HISTORY OF A FEELING, it has not yet been enough for major mainstream success.
So far, she has accompanied Angel Olsen and Waxahatchee on tour and opened shows for Harry Styles, who, as the story goes, was so enthusiastic about her guitar skills that he quickly booked her as a touring musician.
The new album features country superstar and genre innovator Kacey Musgraves as a featured guest on the heartbreaking self-empowerment ballad “Don’t Do Me Good”. With tender folk-pop songs full of inner strength and clear, vivid and yet surprising (“Girlfriend”) lyrics about the ambivalence of falling in love and relationships, Madi Diaz proves that we should listen to her.
