Complex electronic music from the genre melting pot London.
With her third album REFLECTIONS (2021), North London producer Loraine James went from being an insider tip of the local electronic underground scene to being a darling of critics. Her now fifth album GENTLE CONFRONTATION combines her passion for ambient, alternative R’n’B, UK drill and IDM.
The genre name “Intelligent Dance Music” caused controversy back in the 1990s (at the time, Aphex Twin, for example, smiled that it somehow labeled all other electronic genres as less smart, including their fans). And yet the term indicates that Loraine James’ complex electronic productions are ideal for introspective listening in the living room.
Between self-set diary entries and the velvety vocals contributed by fellow artists such as Keiyaa, Eden Samara and George Riley, GENTLE CONFRONTATION maintains the fine balance between stuttered and glitchy club beats, organic piano sounds and harmonious ambience.
