Since her album debut Light, West (2020), Kerala Dust has built up a handsome fan base, now the band around singer Edmund Kenny has been expanded by keyboardist Tim Gardner and drummer Pascal Kearier. So far, they have only changed their stoic music design. Where there was still electronic beats a few years ago, Echo of Love Techno does not understand as a club music, but to rock around in the living room at home.

The British combine elements that do not form a popist context: pulsating rhythms meet monotonous vocals, in between flashes of blues, slide or Americana guitars, supplemented by analog sound design between herb rock and techno. What arises from this is a boundary of a softening, psychedelic art rock, chilled like a dust grain in the desert, with a flickering Fata Morgana in the rearview mirror.
Occasionally you borrow a few chords, as in “I Remember you a dancer”, the dance floor-heavy piece of the album, whose foundation is based on Lil Louis’ “French Kiss”. Other pieces chill away from the techno, such as “Beyond the Pale”, a dust-dry and beat-frequent Americana ballad without any electronics.
