Greatea Peng is no longer an unknown. Tell the It’s Sunny is her second album, she was already cooperating with The Streets, Goldie and Neneh Cherry, appearing on the Internet format color, on the Glastonbury and all kinds of festivals. But the really big breakthrough has so far failed to materialize. But now it would be time, because your unique style somewhere between Tripphop, Soul, Dub and UK Rap is pretty great.
Snot self -view, dealing with the political out there and the spiritual inside, framed in multi -layered sound worlds. Of course, sometimes a slight patchouli and weed smell blows through the songs, especially in the single “Tardis (Hardest)” the grass clouds become almost tangible.
But despite her love of the DUB, Greentea Peng never gets in a stoner music clichés. Her smoky voice meanders through dark industrial landscapes, for example on “Create & Destroy 432”, on “Glory” we hang with her in a hammock somewhere at 35 degrees in the shade between palm trees, to “RAW” we let every heart pain out together and with “The End (Peace)” she takes us to a drum-and bass party in southern london. Nobody celebrates the apocalypse as hopefully as Greentea Peng – and I like to celebrate.
