Review: Christine And The Queens :: Redcar les adorables étoiles

Christine and the Queens is now called Redcar, but not quite like that. REDCAR LES ADORABLES ÉTOILES continues to appear under the traditional name. I didn’t have the courage to take the last step. Something you can’t normally say about Héloïse Letissier, who now uses the pronouns he/him. The album contains the soundtrack to a kind of rock opera. A large-scale art concept that, in contrast to works such as “Gone” with Charli XCX, is only marginally interested in commerce.

It goes hand in hand with a stage project taking place around the release in Paris and London. Letissier’s androgynous synth chanson draws on current events as well as the long musical history of his home country. He largely dispenses with the otherwise high proportion of English lyrics and lives entirely in France. At the same time it forms the logical conclusion of the previous career and the plausible consequence of the LA VITA NUOVA EP.

Together with producer Mike Dean (Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Madonna) an exciting work with a deep French soul was created, which convinces even without knowing the background from the first intricate beats of “Ma Bien Aimée Bye Bye” and its melancholic melody.
