Review: Bombay Bicycle Club :: MY BIG DAY

Diversity and guests: The English indie all-rounders are in good form.

Indie as a genre: vocals without a lead, sounds with reverb and a slight slant, retro atmosphere, melodies everywhere, just not ones that anchor you immediately. Page At the end of the noughties, the Bombay Bicycle Club served these categories with great reliability, and the group was liked for that. The number of people who cite North Londoners as their absolute favorite band may be small. The British have the sympathies and draw on the great potential of casual fans.

MY BIG DAY is the group’s sixth album, and the Bombay Bicycle Club drew inspiration from outside more than usual: five guest voices can be heard, the mix was done by indie sound wizard Dave Fridmann – this record should stand out from the discography. This succeeds because most of the guests don’t just contribute features, but also shape the songs.
