After initial difficulties, Donyell Malen has developed into an absolute top performer at Borussia Dortmund. Now the BVB star is said to have aroused the interest of Liverpool FC.
As “Sport Bild” reports, team manager Jürgen Klopp has “an eye” on Malen.
The Dortmund champion coach from 2011 and 2012 allegedly had his sights set on the attacker before he moved to BVB. In the summer of 2021, however, Malen moved to Westphalia from the Dutch first division club PSV Eindhoven. Liverpool FC, on the other hand, came away empty-handed.
Due to the transfer fee of around 30 million euros, expectations of Malen were high. The 24-year-old initially stumbled in the BVB uniform. During the past season, the offensive man finally broke the knot. Malen is now one of the most consistent players in coach Edin Terzic’s team.
Is Liverpool FC knocking on BVB?
Will Liverpool FC try the Dutchman again soon? The good news for Borussia Dortmund: Malen has a long-term contract until 2026. So at the end of the day the black and yellow have more leverage.
“Sport Bild” speculates that BVB might only “twitch” if there was an offer of over 60 million euros. Otherwise, the German runner-up should have no interest in a transfer with Liverpool FC.
The Reds have some stars in the offensive line with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo. Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out that the Europa League participant will continue to look for reinforcements on the transfer market.
Head coach Klopp’s club has made a successful start to the new season. Liverpool FC has 16 points in the Premier League after the first six games and is therefore second behind defending champions Manchester City (18).
