The plastic cups have the Bruges logo on them, and that may have proven attractive. Although it will cost the city 10,000 euros.
“We saw damage in 6,000 cups,” says mayor Dirk De fauw. “It could be that they have been stepped on or that they were damaged during the sweeping of the site and are now unusable. But so many have disappeared: there is no other explanation for this than that people took them with them as souvenirs.”
