Borussia Dortmund’s former captain Marco Reus thanked the BVB fans for their support after a difficult year.
“I just wanted to say thank you for the incredible support this year. I know, sometimes it’s not that easy, but we are still very grateful that you are there for us and that you always support us, no matter what the times are.” said Reus in a video message from the runner-up on Christmas Eve and added: “Let’s hope for a much, much better year in 2024.”
Dortmund have had a turbulent year. Coach Edin Terzic’s team experienced its emotional low point on matchday 34 of the previous season, when the Black and Yellows, as league leaders, lost the championship to FC Bayern.
Things are also going mixed in the new season: While in the Champions League they made it to the round of 16 as group winners, BVB is far behind their expectations in the Bundesliga as fifth in the table. In the DFB Cup, the final stage was already in the round of 16.
