Reus’ farewell is apparently imminent

What’s next for Marco Reus in Dortmund? The 34-year-old’s sporting future remains open. Now there are signs of an initial trend at the club.

As the TV channel “Sky” reports, the current trend is that Borussia Dortmund does not want to extend the attacker’s contract, which expires in the summer. The final decision on this should only be made after the end of the season.

The discussions about this were scheduled for the end of April/beginning of May, it said.

According to the TV station’s assessment, a Reus farewell is certainly conceivable.

It is clear to Reus that he definitely wants to continue playing after 2024 – whether in Dortmund or abroad. A transfer within the Bundesliga is currently not realistic. There is also said to be strong interest from clubs from Turkey and the American MLS.

Turkish League and MLS are probably showing interest

The online newspaper “Fotomac” recently reported that Trabzonspor had put out feelers to Reus. Accordingly, coach Abdullah Avci sought contact with the BVB star in January. In the winter, the 34-year-old was not yet ready for a change.

According to the report, that could change after the season. Apparently Thomas Meunier, who moved from BVB to Trabzonspor in February, is supposed to act as an intermediary and try to lure Reus into the Süper Lig.

In the current season, Reus has played 28 games for BVB in all competitions, contributing six goals and seven assists. Reus has been playing for Borussia Dortmund since 2012. The striker recently indicated that he would like to extend his stay in Dortmund again.

“BVB is a home for me, which gives me a very good feeling,” he said during an advertising shoot: “The environment is right. You have the best fans in the world, you have the most beautiful stadium in Europe. That’s why there is worse arguments than staying with this club.”
