Reunion for former Ulo students in Westerbork: “The biggest problem is the addresses”

The organization hopes that former students will register. Bart Maat

Anyone who took an exam at the ‘old’ Ulo in Westerbork in the 1950s is asked to report to the reunion committee. It is formed by Hennie Bijkerk-Nijs and Luc Reinds. However, the organization is not without a struggle: “The biggest problem is the addresses of the former students.”

It is suspected that the first reunion of the Westerborker Ulo was held in May 1961.

According to Reinds and Bijkerk, it was then determined that the last reunion would be held in 2021, so 60 years later. The reunions would then all be around 80 years old: “A great time to stop permanently.”

Corona

Due to the measures surrounding corona, nothing could be organized in 2021 and that is why a new attempt is now being made. The two organizers of recent years Maarten Löhr and Bertus Vos are no longer able to organize the reunion again due to death and illness. Hennie Bijkerk-Nijs and Lucas Reinds were therefore asked to organize the last reunion.

Addresses of former students can be passed on by mail or telephone: [email protected] tel. 06 22850885; [email protected] Tel. 0593 346249. Postal address is Koelkamp 5, 9431 HS Westerbork.

“It concerns people who took an exam in the years 1953 to 1959”, Hennie Bijkerk and Lucas Reinds conclude their appeal.
