Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen can make his official return for NEC on Sunday in the away match against FC Volendam. “If the trainer approves, I will play,” said the 33-year-old Orange international at his presentation. Cillessen has now been officially presented in Nijmegen, after it was postponed several times because the final details with his former club Valencia took a little longer.
The goalkeeper is “completely fit”, he said. “I also participated in the entire preparation at Valencia. The last time I missed a training session was with the Dutch national team. Let’s hope that the KNVB has arranged everything well and I can play this weekend.”
Cillessen was already in the stands of De Goffert on Sunday when NEC lost 1-0 to FC Twente. The keeper also trained with the club. He previously played for NEC in the 2010-2011 season, before making the switch to Ajax early in the following season.
