THREE STARS
Any project that opens new spaces for dance is welcome, especially in times when the economy is not particularly favorable for private initiative. In that direction the GDB Dance company specified its functions from a particular perspective on “Cinderella”, one of the most famous children’s stories. The palace party, the prince, the mice, the wicked stepmother, the ridiculous stepsisters and a modern fairy godmother took the story to
good port during the three hours it took to tell it, an unnecessary Wagnerian excess and not very in keeping with the current times.
Was good workmanship and good taste in the scenery and costumesand one eclectic musical selection which ranged from Saint-Saëns’ “Dance Macabre” to Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring”, passing through Kreisler, Kachaturian, Mascagni, Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov, Offenbach, Debussy and Gershwin, among other authors.
A group of talented students from Higher Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón Together with established artists they carried out the choreographic part, a tour de force for the young dancers who had to metamorphose several times in a matter of seconds to embody a wide gallery of characters.
Txaro Manen was a sweet Cinderella with very good technique, and Rodrigo Malpezzi built a successful creation as the dog, as did Wolf Constante as a hilarious butler who has had too many drinks. Sofía Sciaratta and Edgardo Trabalón brought their artistic experience as the stepmother and the ‘consellieur’, as did Gabriela Pucci as the fairy and Sol Infer and Cecilia Mattioli Zartmann were efficient as the evil and rude stepsisters.
