Retrospective William Sweetlove sues plastic abuse
The common thread running through his work is the concern for the environment. ‘No plastic in heaven’ is the title of the expo. “The title stands for the misuse of plastic, we can no longer do without plastic. If you get a baker in the clinic, it is not made of chocolate. But we also produce too much for pointless use. Packing water, drinkable water in plastic bottles. It may end. That’s why I made Christ to the size of primeval man, 1 meter 20 high. The Neanderthal was only so high. He has become a hunter, went out to find food. He carries water. He has three bottles of water on his back. That’s the whole problem. That floats through all my work. It’s been thirty years that I’ve been working on it.”

Sweetlove is a member of the Italian collective Cracking Art. They place plastic installations all over the world, which are recycled. A committed artist, who prefers to work with plastic himself.

There are also chocolate penguins for sale, a collaboration with Christophe Destrooper. Proceeds go to projects related to sustainable water extraction.
