Result statement: a large majority thinks 13,000 extra homes in Drenthe are more than enough

Minister of Housing Hugo de Jonge announced yesterday that the cabinet wants to build 900,000 homes up to and including 2030. The intention is that 13,000 of those 900,000 homes will be in Drenthe. Most participants in ‘What do you think’ are not eager for these plans.

A clear majority, namely 70 percent, agrees with the statement ‘Nature in Drenthe must be spared and therefore 13,000 new homes is more than enough’. In total, nearly 2,000 people cast their votes.

The agreements that the cabinet is now making with the provinces must be further elaborated in December this year into so-called ‘regional housing deals’. It states, among other things, which construction sites will be further developed.

South Holland will take care of most of the new homes. More than 235,000 homes will be built there up to and including 2030. This is followed by North Holland (183,600), North Brabant (130,600) and Gelderland (100,000). The least is built in Drenthe, Zeeland and Friesland.
