Restored Belfry Ypres officially opened

This afternoon five West Flemish carillonneurs will ring in the carillon again. People of Ypres and visitors can visit the Belfry in the new with a guide every Sunday until 17 April.

“The Cloth Hall and the Belfry were one of the most impressive buildings in Europe in the 13th century. And even today, the Belfry, together with the Menin Gate, is the icon of the city. Thanks to a restoration, this unique monument, which van Vlaanderen after the First World War symbolizes shining again,” said Minister Diependaele.

The restoration cost a total of EUR 3,578,344. The Flemish government has subsidized 80% of this restoration.
