Restoration works The Grand in Nieuwpoort started

The former ‘Le Grand Hôtel’ from 1924, later known as the ‘White Residence’ in Nieuwpoort, will soon be renamed The Grand, a building of more than 70 apartments. There will also be a bar and brasserie on the ground floor that will be accessible to the general public.

61 of the 70 apartments have already been sold

After demolition work in the building, the starting signal for the restoration of this project is now coming. In collaboration with contractor Verstraete.team from Roeselare, the building will be stripped in the coming months. From September 2023, the foundation and structural work will start.

Meanwhile, the sale of the apartments is also underway. “Already 61 of the 70 apartments have already been sold before the works have really started. This proves that there is a great demand for sustainable apartments in a historic setting in a prime location,” say Johan Vandendriessche and Thibaut De Vos of Managing Partners at VDD Project Development.

Nobel Prize in Architecture

Heritage developer VDD teamed up with architectural firm David Chipperfield Architects for the design of The Grand. The founder of the firm David Chipperfield recently won the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize 2023, also known as the ‘Nobel Prize for architecture’.
