Restless after NAC-Willem II match, fireworks thrown at police

It was restless on Friday evening after the match between NAC and Willem II. Several supporters walked around wearing balaclavas and threw fireworks at the police. Supporters were held in the Rat Verlegh Stadium in Breda for a while.

Supporters threw several items outside the stadium in Breda. For example, they set off fireworks and bottles were allegedly thrown. “The officers are well prepared for this, but of course it is always a shock when fireworks explode near you,” says a police spokesperson.

The police were present with many Mobile Unit (ME) vehicles. A fire truck was also present. According to the spokesperson, there was a lot of tension after the competition for the Kitchen Champion Division. The Tilburg club won 2-1 against NAC. “We are trying to calm things down as quickly as possible so that everyone can go home.” Large lights were turned on outside and aimed at the supporters.

The spokesperson could not yet say whether anyone was injured or arrested.
