Earlier in the spring, Pippuri.fi said that the classic Esplanade restaurant Kappeli would have its own bakery when it opened after the renovation. Now half a year of renovation is behind us and the doors are open. The basement bakery smells of both bun and fresh bread.

Pippuri.fi went to see what the restaurant looks like after the renovation.

New furniture and art on display

In connection with the renovation, the entire restaurant’s furniture has been renewed both in the kitchen and on the hall side. A bakery has been built in the basement, but there are also facilities that can be rented for festive use.

The biggest change in the visitor’s eyes is seen in the art, which has been brought out more and more in the renovation.

For example, Birger Kaipiainen’s mosaic work Dancing Couples has gained a worthy place on the wall of a café.

The restaurant’s murals and ceilings have been preserved and the display cabinets cleaned. Art has also been spectacularly brought to light through lighting. Staff can request an art brochure to learn more about the building’s art. Any day.

– The chapel is known for being open every day of the year. Now that the renovation is behind us, we return to this. The doors are open again every day, says the restaurant manager Santeri Uusitalo.
