The restaurant Kappeli, which has been under renovation for six months, intends to revive the confectionery tradition.
Chapel
New winds are blowing in the Chapel in the Esplanade Park. The renovation, which lasted about six months, is nearing completion, and in addition to the interior, renovations are also planned for the concept.
In connection with the renovation, a bakery has been built in the basement of the chapel, which means that confectioners will be working in the classic restaurant soon after a break of a hundred years.
After Finland’s independence, the chapel was visited not only for dinner and frost, but also for pastries conjured by an Austrian confectioner.
New ear tree from Boston cake
The bakery’s products will be offered in both the restaurant and the café. On the café side, there is at least a carrot cake and a Boston cake, which will be the house’s own equivalent to ears.
The breads will be baked at the root, which has come to Chapel in 2020, the head of the kitchen Kimmo Martiskaisen with.
– The age of wheat bread is only twenty years old, but it is already approaching the age of Chapel at the root of rye bread. This is exactly what my family left for the evacuation from Suojärvi in Karelia in 1939, how long it has been in use before that, I can’t say, Martiskainen says in a press release.
The chapel café, bakery and bar will open on 22 April and the restaurant on 27 April.
