Restaurant in Roosendaal hit by attack for the third time

For the third time in a few weeks, an attack has been committed on a catering business in Roosendaal. Early Sunday morning, the window popped out after an explosion. The back of the restaurant was also seriously damaged.

Restaurant Cizbiz Köfte at the Rembrandt gallery has been targeted for the third time on Sunday morning. Heavy fireworks were thrown through a window at the front of the building at around 6:30 am, police said. A fire broke out in the business after the explosion. The back of the building was also heavily damaged by the pressure wave.

Two perpetrators
Camera images show at least two perpetrators involved in Sunday morning’s action. One of them is dressed all in black and has a hood over his head. The other is wearing a black and gray jacket and jeans.

It is the third time in a short time that the Cizbiz Köfte has to deal with this. In the night of 2 to 3 January, an attempt was already made to cause an explosion: then a perpetrator stuck explosives to the window of the case. But the assailant fled when a pedestrian approached.

New attempt
A week and a half later, on January 13, a new attempt is successful. Presumably the same perpetrator again sticks heavy fireworks against the window. This time it explodes, causing a lot of damage. There’s a big hole in the window and the whole thing is covered in shards of glass.

So this third attempt does even greater damage. It appears that a stone went through the window first and then the explosive was thrown inside, a 911 correspondent sees. Who is after his business is a mystery to the owner. He tells the 112 correspondent that he has no idea who is behind the explosions. The detective is investigating the case.

Next Monday, the police will pay attention to the attacks in the Bureau Brabant program.
