The table tennis players of Climate Group Stars from Middelstum recorded a big victory over Veerhuis/Westa on Sunday afternoon. In Wessem, Limburg, the Groningen team won 7-0.
Colin Rengers’ resilience in particular stood out during the match in Wessem. In his first match against Aleksandrs Maskalonoks he fell behind 2-1 in games, but with 11-8 and 13-11 he took control of the match. Rengers again won the decisive game 11-8 against Arturs Reinholds.
Clement Chobeau had a considerably easier time against his opponents. The Frenchman did not lose a game against Reinholds and Julien Meurant. Shuohan Men won their matches against Meurant and Maskalonoks both 3-1.
In the doubles, coach Jan Tammenga’s team was also untouchable. The duo Rengers/Chobeau did not give their opponents Reinholds and Maskalonoks a game.
After three matches, Klimaatgroep Stars is in shared second place in the Premier League. The Groningers are two points behind leader Taverzo 1.
