On 23 June 2023, the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Drs. AD Wiersma, requested the King to resign as Minister for Primary and Secondary Education as of 23 June 2023. The King has granted this resignation, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, in the most honorable manner, expressing gratitude for the many important services rendered by the Minister to him and the Kingdom. This has been announced by the King’s Cabinet.
As long as no provision has been made for the appointment of a new Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Dr RH Dijkgraaf, will take over the minister’s tasks.
