Residual Albertismo: Who make up the small government table

Some Kirchner leaders adopted the irony of the journalist horace verbitsky to refer to the intimate environment of Alberto Fernandez. In his usual Sunday columns, the journalist refers to the President’s “small table” as “the mouse table”. That’s how small the team is that survives the economic crisis, the pressures of The Campora and criticism from the opposition.

After Alberto Fernández succumbed to K’s request not to be a candidate, efforts had to be redoubled to stand up. Santiago Cafiero, Aníbal Fernández, Agustín Rossi, Gabriela Cerruti and Victoria Tolosa Paz They make up the front line of the team that continues to run a race full of obstacles to reach December 10 whole.

The last public sign that they are not going to give up was given in Ensenada, at the end of April. The militant plenary was convened by Tolosa Paz, who requested “continue to support the government”. For his part, Aníbal recalled: “We come from working alongside a President who was elected by the Peronist compañeros and compañeras.” And he completed: “We continue to believe in him”.

The Security Minister is usually the most vehement in his statements. In fact, he is one of the few who dares to answer the internal enemy: “We need to fight and say things as they are,” he said in the same act. And he explained: “We are not going to meekly accept that arrogance of La Cámpora. They want to show us that they belong to an enlightened vanguard, when they are not vanguard nor are they enlightened”.

At this point, one of the few acts of rebellion that Alberto’s “mouse table” maintains is to continue Stoking Tolosa Paz as a candidate for governor, to dispute the internship with the current provincial president. “I did not hear the vice president point out that in the province of Buenos Aires we go with a unique candidate. Not to say that Axel Kicillof is yes or yes governor, ”he said. The minister is still in the race, despite the objections of Kirchnerism. In fact, she was one of the few leaders who did not have a good reception in the act of Cristina Kirchner in La Plata.

Verbitsky dedicated one of his last columns to highlight each of the electoral defeats of the presidential environment. He reminded Tolosa Paz that she lost with the list of councilors in La Plata in 2017, the pre-candidate for mayor of that city in 2019 and leading as a deputy for the Frente de Todos in 2021. She was a candidate with little effectiveness.

The journalist also reviewed the sad histories of Cafiero, Hannibal and Rossi. “The presidential hallucination with Robert De Niro is more harmless than the fantasy of Tolosa,” Verbitsky concluded with irony. It is nothing more than a reflection of what they think in Kirchnerism.

excluded. To make matters worse, Alberto’s environment has only adjusted since he began his management. Even the spokeswoman threatened to leave him: at the end of the year there were rumors of her leaving him, worn out by so many fights with ministers and journalists. He finally claimed a stress spike and took a vacation. For now he survives management.

The last failure of the small table was that of the chief of advisers, Antonio Aracre, who barely lasted two months in office and left in April with more pain than glory. “Thank you, dear friend, for your valuable participation in our government,” he greeted. Albero Fernandez. But a couple of weeks later, the former CEO charged everyone: “I do not agree with Alberto’s leadership style”he said in an interview with CNN. And he completed: “He struggles with teamwork.” He also blamed Cerruti for “persuading the President” to fire him.

However, not everyone ends up so angry with Alberto. Matias Kulfas, one of the leaders closest to the president even before the administration began, went out to bank him. The former Minister of Development, who had to resign in June under pressure from K, came out of ostracism in recent days to blame the vice president for the failure of the economy. “In Argentina, inflation reappeared in 2007,” he said. And he completed: “During Cristina’s eight years there was no anti-inflationary plan. Rather, what there was was a total denial of the phenomenon”.

In mid-May, the National Congress of the Justicialista Party. Beyond the fights, the President’s “mouse table” needs a photo with Cristina to be able to order the bases. If they do not get it, they believe that there will be no agreements on the candidacies and time is running out. Fewer deals mean more headaches for Alberto. And December is still far away.
