Residents with a small budget receive money from the municipality for the Zuidlaardermarkt fair

Those who are in financial difficulties are often the first to save on luxury expenses, such as outings. As a result, people in poverty can lose connection with others. With the Zuidlaardermarkt approaching, the municipality of Tynaarlo has come up with something.

People with a small wallet will receive free coins for the fair during the Zuidlaardermarkt this year. “We want to prevent social exclusion. The fair and the market are very popular among residents, children at school talk about it a lot. It is really a happening,” says a spokesperson for the municipality.

But participating in the fair is not obvious for everyone. “You have a group of people for whom it is difficult to finance. A group that has to deal with financial worries. But it is important that something like this is also possible for people with a small wallet.”

About 1,200 households can take advantage of the municipality’s campaign. These are people who previously received the energy allowance from the municipality. Everyone who is approached by the municipality receives ten coins for an evening at the fair. These can not only be used for the attractions, they can also be exchanged at the oliebollen, candy and snack stall.

The money released for this comes from the crisis fund that the municipality of Tynaarlo created earlier this year, due to high inflation and the increase in energy costs. “We have set aside 500,000 euros for this, which people with acute financial problems can call on to avoid large debts.”

The municipal spokesperson cannot yet say how much money has been made available for the campaign during the Zuidlaardermarkt. “That has not yet been calculated and is determined by the fair operator. In any case, there is sufficient budget available from the crisis fund.”
