Residents of Roeselare want to boost biodiversity

“People can do a lot themselves to work on the climate,” says the city.

“In the coming weeks, the city of Roeselare will be campaigning on biodiversity. The message of the campaign: plants and animals are indispensable for a clean future. But so are the residents of Roeselare! By contributing to the diversity of fauna and flora, everyone in Roeselare can contribute for a pleasant living environment.

In concrete terms: portraits of Roeselarenaars are distributed throughout the city via various communication channels. It is absolutely no coincidence that the first name or family name of these inhabitants literally refers to a plant or animal. The portraits explain that these residents of Roeselare are indispensable for biodiversity and therefore for the climate.

Some examples of residents of Roeselare who want to draw attention to biodiversity through their name: Bieke, Debie, Aster, Fleur, Jasmina, Van Roose, Rosanne, Tack, Bossuyt, Verlinde, Dubois, Vanblaere, Meeuws, Craeye, Vanneste, Merel, Muys, Devos, Lammertyn, Vanhaverbeke, Beavers, etc.”
