“I was stupid because in order not to hurt him, I gave him excuses and I thought he would get it. I had to have been clear from the beginning,” explains a woman from Castelldefels who, like others, had to end up blocking on Instagram Robert P.., one of the five men from this municipality in the Baix Llobregat that are in preventive prison from December 21 for raping three women in the spring of 2021.
Robert is possibly the best known of the five members of the ‘herd’ of Castelldefels. He is also the administrator of the whatsapp group ‘K-Team’ shared by the detainees. “Something is wrong with her, because even if I asked her not to write to me, she kept doing it every day,” this woman continues, recounting Robert’s behavior that, according to other women, was general.
Bullying at school
“It was a conversation in which only he spoke,” he details. “He contacted me for instagram“, he continues. “We had met one day at the gym and we had a mutual friend and I accepted because I was not unpleasant.” From that moment on, he commented on all “the stories” that he uploaded to his profile. “If he didn’t say anything, the next day I would write again”, he insists. “I wondered if I wanted to go for a drink or to the disco. She would get him off her by telling her that she was tired,” she recalls.
The frequency became so uncomfortable that it finally set the record straight. “I know he was bullied at school. And I always try not to hurt, but I had to explain that I wasn’t interested.” Faced with such a direct message, Robert replied that he did not think he had been “heavy”. “I asked him to reread the messages, he did, and he apologized. I ‘liked’ his apology. And the next day, he started again.”

A few days later, Robert showed up at the business establishment where this woman works. “She came when we were about to close. She asked me if she knew him and I answered, very curtly, yes,” she recalls. “Seeing him there scared me because I realized that he had come at that time because it was when I was going out,” she reasons. “I talked about it with some friends, I recorded the conversation in case I had to go to the police and I blocked it.” This happened three months before the first reported rape.
After Robert’s arrest, there have been more women describing similar situations. Several of the colleagues from the salsa center also had to block him because he did the same thing to them as he did to this woman. Some also claim that after blocking it followed writing SMS or even calling them on the phone. Sources around him describe Robert as a physically unattractive man but very intelligent and persevering. He was the one who had more ancestry within the ‘pack’.

The case against the herd of Castelldefels under the supervision of Judge Laia Boix, in charge of the Investigating Court number 5 of Gavà, was not limited to investigating the complaint filed by the first victim. Aware that there could be more women, the agents of the investigation unit of the Gavà police station looked to see if there were any new victims and found two more. Currently, there are three victims but it is not ruled out that they end up surfacing other complaints.

After the complaint by the first woman, the Mossos investigated the WhatsApp group ‘K-Team’, created by Robert, and also followed the trail of the profile in the dating applications that Alejandro had, the most physically graceful and the one who was quoted with the complainants. The investigators also scrutinize the profiles on the social networks of the suspects because, through these, some, like Robert, tried at all hours to date women. The Catalan police are trying to find out if any of those who agreed to stay ended up suffering a multiple rape like those investigated.
