Residents of a flat in the Helpman district of Groningen had to leave their house on Friday evening because a fire had started in the porch.
When the fire brigade arrived at the flat on Helper Kerkstraat, the porch was full of smoke. The fire started in a mailbox. The fire brigade managed to prevent the fire from spreading further and was still busy with ventilation for some time.
A local resident saw young people setting off fireworks near the building. He suspects that the fire started because of this. No one was injured.
