It went wrong just before 23:00 last night: a 25-year-old driver from Aalsmeer drove into the house of Henryk and his wife on Kruisweg in Rozenburg. The car drove at full speed straight across the intersection, through the hedge, into the couple’s front door. “If we had left the neighbors a little later, neither of us would be there anymore.”
“My wife was in the shower. I had just gone to the bathroom and was walking to the kitchen, when the door flew in behind me. There were only a few seconds in between.”
When Henryk went outside to look, he found a badly damaged yellow van. He said the driver tried to start the car to drive away. “He said he worked twelve hours straight and then drank three beers, but I don’t believe that at all,” Henryk says. “He drove to our house without braking. There are no signs that he braked.”
Blood
The police, fire brigade and ambulance came to the scene to provide assistance. The driver was then taken to hospital. “He had blood on his face, but was still able to walk.” It is not yet known what condition the driver is in.
“Yesterday I bought a new car for my wife, she is now damaged immediately. It was a hard blow.”
