Residential care center Dunninghe in De Wijk gets 14 new apartments

Residential care center Dunninghe in De Wijk will be further expanded with fourteen sheltered homes. That is what Zorggroep Noorderboog and the Actium housing association want, which have applied for a permit.

The expansion is due to the increase in the number of elderly people who need more intensive physical care or who suffer from dementia. These are also referred to as older people with a ‘more complex care demand’. The building is being prepared for this with the extra apartments, the parties involved report. There are currently twenty care apartments in Dunninghe.

“Dunninghe must be adapted to the changing demand for care. We would like our residents to be able to continue living in the Wijk, even if their care demand becomes more complex,” says Jan Blaauw, regional manager of Noorderboog.

Actium expects to start construction next year.
