Resident spends the night in car after explosion in the street: “Couldn’t sleep inside anymore”

Residents of Gutserstraat in Amsterdam-Noord have had a bad night. At the end of the evening there went an explosive at the front door of one of the houses. A resident of another home says that he no longer dared to sleep at home afterward.

“I slept in the car,” he says. “I heard that two boys threw a Molotov cocktail here in the building. It didn’t go well. I couldn’t sleep in there anymore, no.”

The neighbors talk about two explosions. “I heard shouts: ‘We have to get out, we have to get out!’ Then the fire brigade and police arrived,” says another resident of the building. “Then I went out. I took my dog with me. It was really a situation.”

Yet another calls it ‘terrifying’. “I think the penny still has to drop a bit. I hope it doesn’t happen again. And everything is pitch black inside. It drives you crazy. You can start cleaning.”

No one has been arrested so far. The police are conducting an investigation.
