Playing time for reserves, useful experience for young talents, a red card and a draw; those were the ingredients of an exciting practice match Tuesday between FC Emmen and SC Cambuur.
The match ended 1-1, but that result was only important for the statistics. The value of the confrontation between the two Eredivisie clubs was mainly in the provision of playing minutes to reserves and youngsters.
Cambuur striker Milan Smit from Hollandscheveld eagerly took the opportunity to play another 90 minutes. De Drent proved effective: he scored the 0-1 after fifteen minutes. He did that after a great cross ball from Felix Mambimbi, who also came into action from the start.
Equalizer Rein van Ekeris
After both teams had already had opportunities for more goals before half-time, it took a long time in the second half before goals were scored again. Six minutes before the end, it was substitute Rein van Ekeris who put Emmen at 1-1 by passing Cambuur goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter. In the end it remained at that position in Drenthe.
11 against 11 after red card
Former FC Groningen player Michael Breij took down a broken player after the break. It got him a red card. Because it was an exhibition game, Cambuur’s midfielder was replaced and it remained eleven against eleven.
