The cub was spotted squeaking on Saturday morning and filmed by people from Maastricht who were lying with their boat in the Zwolle city canal in front of the Maagjesbolwerk, near the Mediamarkt. The bobbing animal was fished out of the water with a landing net and taken by employees of the animal ambulance.
In the meantime, the young male otter has been transferred for further care to the Frisian town of Ureterp, where it has been taken care of by the Fûgelhelling wildlife sanctuary.
