Rescue workers are close to Moroccan Rayan (5) in well: ‘Everyone sympathizes with those parents’ | Abroad

Utrechter Karim Boulidam (35), who regularly commutes back and forth between Morocco and the Netherlands, but is now longer in Morocco than planned due to the corona crisis, looks around on the terrace in Casablanca. They are all holding their phones or watching a TV. Since Wednesday morning there has been a lot to see and read about the rescue of ‘the boy in the well’ on numerous Facebook pages and in various news media.

No resident of Morocco seems to have noticed that 5-year-old Rayan from the village of Tamorot has not eaten for 40 hours. The boy fell into a well on Tuesday evening and turns out to be 32 meters deep. While rescue workers approach him (“they are about 2 to 3 meters away from him”), the mayor and health minister are on site.
