REREAD. Conner Rousseau during press conference about café incident: “I apologize for offensive statements about the Roma community”

Vooruit chairman Conner Rousseau has apologized for the racist statements he made to police officers in café ‘t Hemelrijk in Sint-Niklaas at the beginning of September. “I’m shocked at myself. It was wrong and I would like to sincerely apologize for that,” Rousseau said during a press conference this evening in the same café. He admits that while drunk he “made offensive statements,” specifically “about the Roma community.” Furthermore, he mainly stayed on the plain. When journalists presented him with specific statements that he allegedly made, he always avoided them.
