Freiburg (AP) – Sports director Jochen Saier from Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg has confirmed the interest of other clubs in defender Nico Schlotterbeck, but has ruled out a change of the 22-year-old this winter.
“There is no question that there is a desire there. It is also clear that we have had one or two conversations with other clubs because some of them have already put out feelers,” Saier told Sky TV. Several large clubs are said to be interested in signing Schlotterbeck, including FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
He cannot currently say whether the defender will stay at the Baden club beyond the summer, said Saier. “Our season remains to be seen whether we can hold onto it,” said the 43-year-old. “Then we’ll make a good decision together. But I won’t say: He’ll still be with us next season. That would be a bit presumptuous.” Schlotterbeck will not be sold in the current transfer period. “We will stay together like this and now we will not give anyone up,” said Saier. “We have a very interesting group together and want to keep our foot on the accelerator.”
