According to information from “Bild” and “Kicker”, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has separated from the two managing directors Markus Schütz (60) and Frank Briel (50). When asked, the club initially did not confirm the reports. With the decision, the dispute over player agent Roger Wittmann has reached a new escalation level. The 65-year-old Wittmann is considered a confidant of TSG shareholder and patron Dietmar Hopp (85).

Under the leadership of Schütz as chairman of the board, the TSG had imposed a stadium and house ban on Wittmann and another player agent from the Rogon agency and prohibited the use of the box rented by Rogon. The influence of the player agent in the club was viewed negatively not only by Schütz and Briel, but also by many fans.

Hopp had criticized the measures against his friend Wittmann. They were partially repealed by the Heidelberg Regional Court in September. As a shareholder, Hopp holds 49 percent of the professional department, the remaining 51 percent is held by the club, whose chairman is Jörg Albrecht.

TSG Hoffenheim: What does sports director Schicker do?

The football business will initially be managed by sports managing director Andreas Schicker (39) and marketing managing director Tim Jost (39). How long Schicker will stay remains unclear. The Austrian is said to be thinking about emigrating to RB Salzburg. He came to the Kraichgauers from Sturm Graz in October 2024. A month later, Schicker brought Graz coach Christian Ilzer to Hoffenheim. After a difficult season, the club is sixth in the Bundesliga after nine games this season.
