FCA record access
Ricardo Pepi has attracted interest with his performances for FC Groningen and for the US national team (3 goals in the last 2 games) – a return to FC Augsburg is unlikely as things stand. The latter was last written by transfer experts Fabrizio Romano. Shortly before “Voetbal International” and “Eindhoven’s Dagblad‘ reported PSV Eindhoven’s interest in the 20-year-old striker. The Feyenoord-near Portal “1908.nl“ now also connects the Eredivisie first from Rotterdam with Pepi.
Accordingly, the name of the 16.36 million euro move from FC Dallas in January 2022, which is still the most expensive addition in the Augsburg club’s history, is a much-discussed one at Feyenoord. The club wants to approach the management of the right foot as soon as possible and explore the possibility of a transfer. As a transfer model, the Rotterdammers have a loan with a purchase option in mind.
Pepi at the top: the most expensive additions to FC Augsburg
Whether Augsburg would get involved is an open question. According to Romano, Pepi wants to take the next step in his career. During his six months at FCA, during which the expectations were probably unrealistically high due to the fee, he hardly got a foot on the ground in the club. In Groningen, meanwhile, he has scored ten goals and three assists in 23 competitive games to date.
Feyenoord could probably score against PSV as the championship favorite with the “Champions League” argument. To achieve that, Eindhoven would have to at least catch defending champions Ajax Amsterdam, who on 55 points are six behind Rotterdam and two ahead of PSV (to the Eredivisie table).
