England international
West Ham United are apparently intensely courting Kalvin Phillips (26) from Leeds United. As the “Times“reported, the “Hammers” failed at the league competitor with two offers for the English international. However, Londoners would not stop their efforts after the setbacks – quite the opposite.
According to the report, the club would even be willing to pay a record fee for the midfielder. So far, Sébastien Haller (27) has held the status of the most expensive new signing in the club’s history with his move from Eintracht Frankfurt to West Ham for 50 million euros in 2019 (overview). This could be taken by the courted Phillips, who is also associated with the top clubs Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City and Man United in the TM rumor mill.
Man City 7x there: The most expensive Premier League newcomers in history
At the latter club, speculation arose last autumn about a possible deal for £60m, the equivalent of around €72m. With a sales value of this magnitude, the right-footed player would become by far the most expensive departure in the club’s history at the club where he was trained (see overview). Phillips’ current market value is €40m, making him the most valuable player on his team. The defensive player is under contract with the “Peacocks” until 2024.
Coach Marcelo Bielsa has had to do without the right foot since last December and probably until next month, who is suffering from a thigh injury. So far this season, Phillips has made 15 appearances, in which he has contributed one goal and one assist.
