The Tour de France is scheduled to end in Nice in the summer of 2024 and thus for the first time in the history of the world’s most important cycling race not in Paris. This was reported by the Italian newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport”.
The start of the tour will therefore take place in Florence – that would also be a novelty, because Italy has never been allowed to host the Grand Départ of the Tour de France. The tour organizers in Paris did not initially confirm the report.
Actually, the three-week tour always ends on the magnificent boulevard Champs-Élysées in Paris. According to “Gazzetta” information, however, this tradition will be broken in two years, because the capital will then already be in the final preparations for the Olympics. The final stage on July 21 is scheduled just five days before the Summer Games opening ceremony.
Instead, Nice on the Cote d’Azur is planned as the finale. According to the report, the first three stages rise entirely in Italy, and the fourth section then goes from Italy to France.
This summer the tour starts on July 1st in Copenhagen, the following year the Basque Country in Spain will host the Grand Départ.
