showbizThe Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam has filed a complaint against Johnny de Mol, the son of the Dutch media entrepreneur John de Mol. Johnny was charged with assault and attempted murder by his ex-partner Shima Kaes. However, the investigation has shown that there is insufficient evidence. The news was announced on Thursday afternoon.
Kaes, who had a relationship with Johnny between 2014 and 2015, has been arguing with the de Mol family for a long time. The woman claims that there have been several violent incidents between her and Johnny in the past. It concerns incidents in Mexico, at the Edisongala in Amsterdam and in Ibiza. At the end of 2020, Kaes filed a complaint against her ex-fiancé for attempted assault and manslaughter.
Insufficient evidence
De Mol was heard as a suspect in the criminal investigation. The media entrepreneur’s son has persistently denied the allegations. Kaes managed to get three witnesses during the investigation. The persons in question have all made a statement, but according to the Dutch Public Prosecution Service these have provided “insufficient support” for the declaration. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the sound fragments that Kaes provided contain “conversations without sufficient context”. In addition, the supplied photos cannot be dated and the injury in the photos is not clear. The injury statements have also “proved to be insufficiently unambiguous”.
De Mol announced at the end of an ‘HLF8’ broadcast at the end of April that he would temporarily stop the presentation after a new accusation of inappropriate behaviour. “In addition to the previous allegations and allegations, a new anonymous false accusation has been made this week. As a result, it is impossible for me and the editors to continue this work.” The anonymous report followed Kaes’s earlier report. De Mol has always categorically denied both allegations.
Return
Conversely, de Mol and his father John de Mol filed a complaint against Kaes for an attempted blackmail. According to their lawyer Plasman, Kaes’ agents have made contact with both Johnny de Mol and his parents “to induce the family to achieve a performance – read: payment”.
Johnny de Mol will return to the small screen next week. On the Dutch channel SBS6 he will be seen from Wednesday with the program ‘Restaurant Misverstand’.
