Man United beckons
Borussia Dortmund threatens to say goodbye to Manuel Akanji (26) next summer. As the “image” reported, the Swiss international has also rejected the second offer to extend the contract, which expires in 2023. The defensive man is therefore not interested in putting his signature under a new working paper. Instead, the defender should flirt with a move to the Premier League. According to reports, Manchester United has already made an offer.

“Manuel is a very important player for us. He has shown strong performances and of course we are still trying to convince him to extend the contract with us,” said license director Sebastian Kehl recently before the second contract offer. According to a report in the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, it was not to be expected for a long time that this would happen at all, since BVB originally did not want to exceed the EUR 8 million annual salary limit. So far it has been said that Akanji is demanding an annual sum of 10 million euros. After the first offer, the “Kicker” reported that the club officials would no longer expect an extension. The “Ruhr Nachrichten” are now also writing that the probability of staying is tending to “near zero”.
In order to get a transfer fee for Akanji, it would have to take the right-footer away from Dortmund around four and a half years after his EUR 21.5 million move from FC Basel in the coming transfer period. BVB’s claims are said to be around 30 million euros. In the TM rumor mill, the defensive player is associated with both Bayern Munich and Manchester United. While the German record champions are only supposed to observe the contractual situation surrounding Akanji, the “Red Devils” are obviously courting the player intensively. The Swiss is said to have already received a contract offer with an annual salary of 15 million euros.

With Akanji farewell: BVB should get another central defender
Dortmund, on the other hand, have already provided reinforcements for the back team: As the club announced last month, Niklas Süle (26) is coming from Munich for the new season on a free transfer. The national player signed a contract until 2026. In addition to Süle, further commitments could be made for the defensive, as a look at the TM rumor mill shows. Nico Schlotterbeck (22) from Freiburg is particularly popular there.
