Next top transfer after Sancho?
The castling in the center of Borussia Dortmund’s defense, which was hinted at at the latest after Niklas Süle’s commitment, is taking on more and more contours. Akanji would be able to collect 15 million euros a year from the English record champions, a sum that not even the top earners Süle, Mats Hummels (33; 10 million euros a year each) and Marco Reus (32; 12 million euros) reach at Dortmund. With his current contract, which dates back to his €21.5 million move from FC Basel in January 2018 and is valid until June 2023, the Swiss is nowhere near that salary, and a recent offer to extend it also included, according to “WAZ“ only between 7 and 9.5 million euros.

BVB: Defensive upheaval continues – what will happen to Hummels & Zagadou?
A departure from Akanji, who has made 150 appearances (three goals/two assists) in four years, would mean further personnel consequences at Borussia.
