Squad planning 22/23
The final budget depends on possible promotion to the Bundesliga, but squad planning for the new season is already underway at SV Werder Bremen. According to media reports, the second in the 2nd Bundesliga (to the table) is currently targeting three possible newcomers for the coming summer. 1. FC Union Berlin also seems to have three players from Bremen on their list.

As the “image“-Zeitung reports, the former Unterhachinger Orestis Kiomourtzoglou is a candidate for a summer move to the Weser. The 23-year-old midfielder has become a regular at Dutch first division club Heracles Almelo this season. Werder is said to have already expressed an interest in the native of Munich at the Eredivisie club.
Kiomourtzoglou’s contract runs until 2023, and according to the report, the player cannot rule out a move to the 2nd Bundesliga if Werder misses the return to the top flight. The right foot was reportedly very popular at Hannover 96 last summer, but a transfer did not materialize. According to “Bild”, in addition to Werder, the Greek clubs Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos Athens are said to want to get involved in poker for Kiomourtzoglou this time.
Werder very present: Most valuable players in the 2nd Bundesliga
Also on the Werder note: Holstein Kiel’s right-back Phil Neumann, whose contract with the “Storks” expires in the summer. The 24-year-old was already associated with Bremen in winter and is said to have a good reputation with ex-KSV coach Ole Werner. “I think the idea of Neumann is good. From the offspring, I currently only see Park as a full-back and he would first have to be introduced as a backup,” wrote TM user “ClaudioWiese” back in February with a view to a possible Neumann commitment in the TM rumor mill.
I like the idea of Neumann. From the offspring, I currently only see Park on full-back and he would have to be brought in as a backup first. A Neumann free transfer for RV always makes sense. when we get him There will be others. …
For the left side of defense, however, the sheet brings the Fürther Jetro Willems into play. The 22-time Dutch national player is under contract with Kleeblatt until 2023 and has made 19 appearances so far this season. The central defender Robin Knoche from Union Berlin, who was also recently traded, is no longer an issue at the Osterdeich, according to “Bild”.
Union interest: Ducksch continues “in the sights of the Köpenicker”
Seven contracts (excluding loan players Weiser, Mai and Assalé) expire at Werder in the summer, including defenders Ömer Toprak and Milos Veljkovic. The latter is said to report the “dyke room” and according to the “Berliner Kurier” as well as defense colleague Marco Friedl will still be an issue at 1. FC Union Berlin. Top scorer Marvin Ducksch was also “targeted by the people from Köpenick”, who had not yet given up hope of international business in the final spurt of the Bundesliga.

According to “Sport Bild”, the 27-year-old, who is bound until 2024, has an exit clause of around 5.5 million euros for each transfer period and is said to have long since aroused desires beyond the borders of Germany. However, given Ducksch’s repeated positive public signals towards Werder in recent weeks, an early departure is considered unlikely.
