Report: Hertha BSC for PSV coach Roger Schmidt not an issue

Also Kovac out of the race?

Coach Tayfun Korkut is under contract with Hertha BSC until the end of the season and it is more than unlikely that the cooperation will continue beyond the summer given the current poor form and his point average of 0.75 in the Bundesliga. At the end of last month, Sport Managing Director Fredi Bobic announced that after the season it would be analyzed “whether it will continue”. While Korkut is fighting with the “old lady” to stay up in the league, possible successors are always being traded with the Berliners. Among them Roger Schmidt from PSV Eindhoven, who responded to a report by the “image” According to but eliminated as a candidate.

Accordingly, the 54-year-old, who will not extend his expiring contract with the Dutch club and would therefore be available, has other plans for his career, although the “BZ“ recently reported that the coach could well imagine an engagement at Hertha BSC. Schmidt is said to have received inquiries from clubs in England and Spain.

The coach justified his departure from Eindhoven by saying that he wanted to be free from the summer “to be able to make a new decision for me”. Schmidt came to the Dutchmen in 2020, whom he has looked after in 90 games so far and scored an average of 2.16 points. He is currently fighting for the Eredivisie championship with the club and has title chances in both the Dutch Cup and the Europa Conference League.

But not only Schmidt does not seem to have for Hertha BSC, but also Niko Kovac. Born in Berlin, who played 242 games for the “Old Lady” as an active player, according to “Bild” dreams of a move to England. Kovac has been without a club since leaving AS Monaco earlier this year but has taken some time off for the time being. The coach recently explained in an interview that he needs “a little free time”.
