Report: FC Bayern II coach Demichelis candidate at River Plate

Would be first in 1st men’s team

After the confirmed farewell to coaching icon Marcelo Gallardo, the Argentinian top club River Plate has apparently agreed on a favorite for the successor. Like reporters Cesar Luis Merlo, among others “TyC Sports”, reports that Martín Demichelis is the most popular at the club from Buenos Aires. The 41-year-old has been training Bayern Munich’s second team since April 2021. However, his contract there expires next summer and the Argentinian has informed the record champions that he will not extend it.

However, Gallardo, who has been in office since 2014, is leaving River Plate at the end of the year – so the clubs would still have to reach an agreement if there was a premature change. In August Demichelis had in one Interview with “Spox” and “Goal” said: “My contract with FC Bayern runs until next summer and I really enjoy the work here. I soon had my UEFA Pro license and thus also the formal requirements for being able to coach a first team in professional football. We’ll see when it comes to that.”

With Bayern II, Demichelis scored an average of 2.04 points per game and was on the touchline in 53 games. In 2021 he was relegated from the 3rd division with the reserve team and subsequently finished second in the Regionalliga Bayern behind SpVgg Bayreuth. After 16 games this season, they are ninth, 16 points behind leaders SpVgg Unterhaching with coach Sandro Wagner.
