Report: BVB talent Bynoe-Gittens’ contract is extended on his 18th birthday

In the professional squad from summer

While BVB talent Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (17) was on the bench for 90 minutes on the last matchday at VfB Stuttgart, he was allowed to get a taste of professional air for the first time in the 6-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg when he came on as a substitute in the 88th minute. Licensing player manager Sebastian Kehl recently made it public that this will be the first step for many in the first team. In an interview with the “Süddeutsche ZeitungThe future sports director announced that Bynoe-Gittens will be part of the professional squad from the coming season. How now the “picture” reported, not only the sporting future is clarified, but also the contractual situation.

Accordingly, the contract, which expires in 2023, will be extended by three years on the 18th birthday of the English junior international (8 August). As a look at the contract terms of the BVB professionals shows, only Gregor Kobel (24) and Donyell Malen (23) are tied to the club until 2026 and thus the longest. “He can give us something that maybe we don’t have in the squad. This is a player of the future for us,” said coach Marco Rose in an interview with “Bild” about Bynoe-Gittens. “We all gave each other time. It was the club’s clear plan to carefully build it up. He’s a prospect player who we obviously see in one-on-ones.” The London native was one of three Dortmund talents to debut under Rose against the “Wolves”.

While Tom Rothe (17) was in the starting XI due to absentees, Lion Semic (18) was substituted on alongside Bynoe-Gittens in the closing stages. The number of BVB debutants this season rose to four. The latter came to BVB in the summer of 2020 from Manchester City’s youth division, where he has mainly been used in youth so far. This season he made 14 appearances for the U19s, scoring ten goals and providing three assists. Bynoe-Gittens brings back memories of Jadon Sancho (22), who also switched from the “Citizens” to BVB. The England international brought the club €85m in revenue after leaving for Manchester United last summer.
