Report: BVB & Gladbach want VfL Wolfsburg’s Omar Marmoush

Schmadtke is working on an extension

Omar Marmoush’s future is a topic of discussion at VfL Wolfsburg given the contract that expires in 2023. And according to a recent media report, it is gaining new momentum. According to the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” and “Aller-Zeitung” want to extend the management of the “Wolves” with the offensive player. In view of high-ranking competitors, however, this project is likely to prove challenging. According to reports, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach are courting Marmoush’s services.

As the newspapers write, a winter transfer is even conceivable because Wolfsburg can only generate a fee for the 23-year-old then. A clear trend in one direction has apparently not yet emerged. The VfL around the outgoing managing director Jörg Schmadtke is working on a continuation of the cooperation on much better financial terms. “We’re having talks. We are in a good exchange,” the manager is quoted as saying. “We are relaxed and nice people and don’t put any pressure on them. However, we don’t want this to become a never-ending number. If it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work. Then we will make a decision for winter and summer.”

In the negotiations between the players and the club side, there was a rapprochement. “In the end, it’s a weighing process,” said Schmadtke. “I think that could work at the moment.” Marmoush himself is said to be interested in staying in Wolfsburg because he’s finally getting enough opportunities. Last summer, VfL rejected an offer of 6 million euros from Brentford FC because the new coach Niko Kovac vetoed it, according to the “AZ/WAZ”. In the current season, the professional, who returned from his loan station in Stuttgart, has played 17 competitive games and 800 minutes, with Marmoush scoring three goals (no assists). Its market value is around 6 million euros.
